Simple tips for EU projects

Irish will be voting again for or against the Lisbon Treaty in the autumn. Might as well brief you on things I have been learning doing more than 70 EU project revisions.

Tick the basic boxes:

- EU dimension: get right number of consortium members that provide good European coverage.

- Get capable, committed, and competent consortium partners together and make sure the map their role against project plan deliverables.

- Offer project management methodology in case things go wrong.

- Address an already identified need (commercial/sectoral and/or public service).

- Reasons why your consortium is the best to address need.

Proposal:

- Stick to clear arguments matching requirements in EU official documents (info day material/Work Programme).

- Pay someone to write proposal if English is not first language.

- Don’t write stuff for sake of writing stuff as external evaluators will dig for specific info on how you are going to do things in practical ways.

- KPIs need to be relevant and sufficient to influence outcome of project beyond funded period.

- Reason your costs and value per measured outcomes.

Divide total funding requested by KPIs and you’ll realize that EU plays a strong enabling role in all this…

btw, I am organizing another North side Open coffee event this sat, 27th at 10.30 in the Airport Hilton Hotel, on the Malahide Road.

I hope to see you there, and maybe you might let me know if you can make it
